Washington University of St. Louis RN Research Nurse Coordinator II - Infectious Disease Clinical Trials - 50461 in St. Louis, Missouri

Job Type/Schedule This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. Position hours are generally Monday to Friday. Department Name/Job Location This position is in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases/ACTU (Clinical Trials Unit). This position is for the Medical School Campus. Essential Functions POSITION SUMMARY: To recruit, screen, enroll and follow-up research participants volunteering for research projects conducted through the Infectious Disease Clinical Research Unit (ID-CRU). These projects may be sponsored by the university, the federal government, grants, pharmaceutical companies and other entities. Dr. Presti is the ID-CRU director. Studies are under the direction of Dr. Presti and other investigators that are associated with the Infectious Disease Clinical Research Unit. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Responsible for patient recruitment and screening activities which typically involve clinic visits but may require phone, text, in-person meetings at community events or targeted locations. 2. Responsible for an ongoing familiarity with all active protocols, expert knowledge of assigned protocols. 3. Responsible for conducting the informed consenting process, assuring ethical enrollment of participants. 4. Responsible for critically assessing potential participant’s suitability and eligibility for inclusion in research studies and for assuring appropriate patient enrollment into research protocols participants. 5. Responsible for patient care and scheduling visits and obtains necessary medical and medications history, physical examinations, vital signs, questionnaires and laboratory evaluation. 6. Responsible for ongoing participant education on all aspects of protocol procedures, schedule and study medication adherence. 7. Responsible for monitoring participant for study drug adherence, visit compliance, any suspected toxicities, changes in medications, new/changed diagnoses and other healthcare-related issues. 8. Responsible for telephone, e-mail, text consultations with patients between scheduled visits in the event of an adverse event or emergency arranging interim safety visits as directed. 9. Responsible for conducting visits within the ID-CRU unit, ID clinic or at one of the inpatient units within the Washington University School of Medicine medical campus. Most visits will occur during regular working hours however occasional evenings and weekend appointments may be required. 10. Responsible for documenting visits by completing visit worksheets, notes and Case Report Forms (CRF’s includes paper and electronic eCRF’s) in a timely fashion. 11. Responsible for collegial interactions with clinical, laboratory, data and quality management personnel to assure accurate and timely collections of data and specimens, performance of procedures and timely and accurate data entry and adherence to quality control standards and quality management activities. 12. Responsible for interactions with sponsor representative for the purpose of study monitoring, including in-person, phone and online modalities. 13. Responsible for active participation in regular unit meetings with ID-CRU investigators to review recruitment, enrollment activities and ongoing study management issues. 14. Responsible for attendance and participation at unit training and quality management activities. 15. Responsible for maintaining current and providing proof of required license and certifications. Required Qualifications * Graduate of an accredited nursing program with two years of related nursing or research experience. * REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Current state of Illinois and/or Missouri LPN or RN licensure as applicable by state of work location, in accordance with Compact Act; Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements). Preferred Qualifications * Experience with oncology and/or clinical research. * Working knowledge of techniques and methodologies used in developing, coordinating, and managing clinical research projects with working knowledge of database management. * Two years of research nursing experience. Salary Range Base pay commensurate with experience.
