Washington University of St. Louis Research Technician I - Neurology - 50200 in St. Louis, Missouri

Job Type/Schedule

This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week.

Essential Functions

POSITION SUMMARY:

This opportunity is in a lab studying proteins involved in Neurodegenerative diseases. This position is responsible for assisting with laboratory duties in a research setting; performs routine tests with direction from the supervisor, manager or higher-level technician, and maintain the mouse colony.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assists investigator in maintaining mouse colony including breeding, weaning, genotyping and record keeping.
  2. Assists investigator or higher-level technician with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and set-up and maintenance of equipment.
  3. Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated the ability to perform basic laboratory techniques, including pipetting and dilutions.
  • Firm understanding of molarities.
  • Ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.
  • Working knowledge of computer software and general lab equipment.

Salary Range

The hiring range for this position is $13.80 - $15.97 per hour.

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
