Job Type/Schedule This position is full-time and works approximately 37.5 hours per week. This is a time-limited position of up to three years. Department Name/Job Location This position is in the Institute for Public Health. The position is located at the Taylor Avenue Building. Some travel is required across the University campus and in the community with collaborators. Essential Functions POSITION SUMMARY: The Research Coordinator position will have three primary responsibilities: 1) manage violence prevention research and evaluation activities housed at the Institute for Public Health; 2) coordinate a community-academic research agenda for violence prevention across Missouri; and 3) strengthen emerging cross-sector data-sharing partnerships for violence prevention. A successful candidate will have experience with research activities (study design, data collection); the technical and legal infrastructure to support multi-sector data sharing; and employing a public health lens to address violence. Primary partners include the St. Louis Area Violence Prevention Commission and the Missouri Foundation for Health, as well as local law enforcement, academic institutions, and health departments and hospital systems. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Manage the implementation of the Cardiff Model, including setting up the Institute for Public Health data center as the honest broker; supporting emergency department staff to enhance data collection, which includes sharing back findings; and producing maps & analyses for the monthly Cardiff committee meeting. 2. Coordinate the evaluation of Cure Violence, an intervention being implemented in three St. Louis neighborhoods. 3. Support a state-wide research collaborative for violence prevention by educating and promoting available datasets (both public and restricted), and educating & connecting researchers with appropriate data. 4. Develop and disseminate a catalog of available data to support data-driven violence prevention across Missouri, including the Hospital-Based Violence Intervention Program repository created to support evaluation of the regional Life Outside of Violence program coordinated by the Institute for Public Health. 5. Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree with two years of professional experience or in public health, public policy, or related discipline or Master’s degree in public health, public policy or related discipline. * Experience with research, evaluation and project coordination. * Familiarity with data analysis techniques. * Mastery of basic computer software such as Microsoft Word, Spreadsheets, PowerPoint, E-mail and Internet. Preferred Qualifications * Master’s degree with 1 year of professional experience in public health, public policy, or related discipline. * Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate across multiple business units. * Knowledge of public health research and evaluation concepts. * Ability to work independently under overarching guidance. * Excellent organizational and time management skills. * Ability to work collaboratively, diplomatically, and professionally across multiple business units and with multiple levels of leadership. * Effective problem solving skills. Salary Range The hiring range for this position is $38,161 - $57,000 annually.
