Job Type/Schedule This position is full-time and works approximately 37.5 hours per week. Department Name/Job Location This position is in the Department of Off-Campus Housing (QHC). The position is located at the North Campus. This position is for the Danforth Campus. Essential Functions POSITION SUMMARY: To facilitate continuous safety improvement and compliance with regulatory agencies by following the values of Washington University. To foster excellence at Quadrangle Housing by developing the skills and habits necessary to enable meaningful measurable results to our student and extended communities. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Work closely with Washington University EH&S department, Leadership Teams, Safety Specialists and Safety Committees. 2. Communicate University EH&S policies and standards to contractors, employees in Quadrangle Housing (QHC), and others involved with QHC-managed assets and projects. 3. Monitor, audit, and document compliance of policies and standards; formulate corrective action plans, as appropriate. 4. Conduct injury interviews with employees in QHC, as well as contractors, keeping reports in compliance with regulatory agencies. 5. Conduct OSHA construction safety classes (with appropriate license). 6. Liaison to Washington University’s Office of Sustainability. Maintain and report applicable information on QHC-managed assets. 7. Develop an annual EH&S, and grounds, operating plan for QHC, including an annual budget and goals. For all QHC-managed property: 1. Manage the upkeep of landscaping/grounds and supervise all grounds personnel. 2. Manage preventative maintenance contracts. 3. Manage outside contractors for landscaping/grounds projects. 4. Manage QHC’s vehicle fleet, including preventative and on-going maintenance Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent high school certification. * Valid Class “E” driver’s license and auto insurance. Preferred Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree. * Strong experience in Lead and Asbestos safety a plus. Lead and Asbestos licenses preferred. * HAZWOPER and OSHA 510 Standards for the construction industry. * Thorough knowledge and practical application of safety practices and procedures used in residential housing environment. * Thorough knowledge and practical application of federal, state, and local safety and environmental laws and regulations. * Have a strong knowledge and understanding of occupational safety. * Have a strong knowledge of environmental management, with the proven ability to strategically manage environmental compliance. * An ability to communicate University EH&S policies and standards to contractors, employees in Quadrangle Housing (QHC), and other involved with QHC –managed assets and projects. * An ability to monitor, audit, and document compliance with policies and standards plus formulate corrective action plans as appropriate. * An ability to supervise grounds staff and manage outside contractors engaged for landscaping/grounds projects. * An ability to estimate time and determine materials required to complete various projects. Salary Range The hiring range for this position is $21.18 - $26.99 per hour.
