This position is full-time and works approximately 37.5 hours per week. We anticipate a start date in early January, 2021.

Essential Functions


Mental Health Services within the Habif Health and Wellness Center at Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for a clinical staff member with strong generalist skills in the areas of time-limited individual, couples, and group counseling, outreach/consultation, and crisis intervention. The ideal candidate will possess a particular interest and experience providing outreach and counseling services for either students of color, LGBTQ students, or students struggling with eating concerns.


  • Provides a range of clinical services to students including, assessment, individual/couples/group counseling, crisis intervention, and appropriate referral to off-campus resources.
  • Participates in the after hours on-call coverage (2-3 weeks per semester).
  • Provides clinical supervision to members of the practicum staff as appropriate.
  • Consults with members of the university community about the personal and psychological well-being of students.
  • Participates in or co-chair university committees as assigned.
  • Fulfills administrative responsibilities in the department:
  • Staff meetings and case conferences
  • Record keeping
  • Agency Planning
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary and assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • A doctorate in a mental health related field from an APA accredited program and completion of an APA approved internship OR master’s degree in a mental health related field (MSW, MA, M.Ed., etc.) and licensure as an LCSW/LPC/LMFT and five years of experience.
  • A license or license eligibility in the state of Missouri is also necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to seasoned candidates with a proven track record working in a university counseling center setting. Preferred qualities of the successful candidate include:

  • demonstrated experience/commitment working with diverse individuals and communities from varying sexual orientations, gender identities, and ethnically, racially, and internationally diverse backgrounds;
  • well-developed clinical skills including an interest and demonstrated experience with the provision of various types of group therapy;
  • demonstrated ability to handle spontaneous work demands while undertaking projects that require advanced planning;
  • a collaborative spirit and ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary staff of health and mental health professionals;
  • excellent oral and written communication skills, and
  • a familiarity or interest in learning about the use of technology in the delivery of mental health interventions.

Salary Range

The hiring range for this position is $48,087 - $62,517 annually and is commensurate with experience.
