Essential Functions


This position is responsible for coordinating the Neuromuscular Clinical Laboratory in the Department of Neurology. This position includes duties associated with general administrative services, clinical functions, and billing related activities. This position requires an individual with strong communication and organizational skills.


  1. Electronic Medical Record Systems & Information Technology Interfaces
  2. Management & administration of Electronic Medical Records Systems & Information Technology Interfaces
  3. Co-Path registration for all specimens
  4. Co-Path system Troubleshooting
  5. Coordination of Co-Path requirements for CAP, NY, CA, & FL licensures
  6. Clinical Laboratory Coordination
  7. Confers with facilities and physicians to explain purpose of testing, testing requirements of diagnostic procedures, turn-around- times and result interpretations
  8. Administers and evaluates all lab and clinical assessments to ensure they are completed in a timely manner
  9. Prepares oral or written presentation or reports and analyses and enters documentation into Co-Path
  10. Coordinates clinical data for all biopsies
  11. On-Call after-hours and on non-business days to assist physicians as needed
  12. Billing
  13. Ensures receipt of complete and accurate requisitions from outside facilities
  14. Provides laboratory cost quotes to outside facilities
  15. Enters CPT charges into Co-Path for billing interface
  16. Administrative
  17. Interacts with internal and external physicians, staff, and lab personnel
  18. Scanning, faxing, sorting mail, shipping packages both international and domestic
  19. Managing and ordering office supplies for lab personnel
  20. Interacts with WU Facilities, Housekeeping, WUSTL IT, and NCIS for work orders related to the laboratory
  21. Other Functions
  22. Maintains required HIPAA compliance, skills/competencies and participates in in-services, staff programs, continuing education, and cross-training programs according to established standards and Washington University policies
  23. Complies with OSHA, state and federal regulatory sources/standards
  24. Participates in quality improvement activities to ensure appropriate outcomes
  25. Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a healthcare setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years’ experience in physician office or laboratory administrative position preferred.
  • Interactive communication skills with ability to work with internal and external physicians, patients, families, significant others, and support staff; must have strong interpersonal, organizational, and telephone skills.

Salary Range

The hiring range for this position is $15.85 - $19.43 per hour.
