Washington University of St. Louis Clinical Speech Pathologist (West County) - Otolaryngology - 51767 in St. Louis, Missouri

Job Type/Schedule This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. Department Name/Job Location This position is in the Department of Otolaryngology. The position is located primarily at BJH West County with some presence at the CAM clinic. This position is for the Medical School. Essential Functions POSITION SUMMARY: Position performs duties associated with the clinical delivery of speech-language pathology services and has an emphasis on voice. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Perform videostroboscopy procedures. * The exams may include rigid transoral exams, flexible nasopharyngoscopic exams, or a combination of both, as determined by the referring physician or as determined by the SLP to obtain diagnosis. * Interpretation of exams is performed by the SLP and physician jointly. * The SLP will prepare a written report, which must be added to the patient’s permanent record with 48 hours of completing the exam. 1. Perform speech therapy/voice therapy services. * Initial evaluation session – to determine additional treatment plans. * Follow-up therapy sessions. Length and frequency of sessions, and total duration of treatment, is determined by the SLP. * An initial note or progress note for each session must be added to the patient’s permanent electronic record within 48 hours of the session. * Perform FEES exams and modified barium swallow studies. Secondary Responsibilities: The SLP may develop additional specialized care programs for selected patient populations, with approval of the supervising physician, such as: * Parkinson’s disease and related conditions – Lee Silverman Voice Treatment. * Accent modification treatment. * Participate in voice-related research studies. Required Qualifications * Master's degree with five years of experience as a speech pathologist; must have certificate of Clinical Competence and experience in CPT and ICD-9 coding. * Currently licensed as a Professional Speech Pathologist in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, as applicable by work location. * Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements). Preferred Qualifications * Experience in assessment and diagnosis of speech and swallowing patients, provision of speech and swallowing therapy to adult voice and head and neck patients. * Management of TEP patients to optimize speech, fit and counsel patients with speech assistive devices, ability to work cooperatively as a team member. Salary Range The hiring range for this position is $68,266 - $87,048 annually. Applicant Special Instructions Working Conditions: Clinical office setting with some pressure caused by adherence to patient/physician schedules. The work of this position involves standing, walking, or bending approximately 60% of the time; sitting approximately 35%, and occasional lifting or transferring of patients approximately 5%.
