Job Type/Schedule This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. Department Name/Job Location This position is in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiology. The position is located at the Northwest Tower. This position is for the Medical School Campus. Essential Functions POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of a Research Coordinator or PI, participates in clinical research study activities; screens, obtains consent, and enrolls in study; performs a variety of duties involved in the collection, documentation, and reporting of clinical research data. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Participates in the recruitment of study participants as identified in related protocol; visits with study participants to explain study; screens for eligibility and obtains informed consent of participants. 2. Completes all necessary paperwork/documentation according to study protocol; obtains consent and interviews study subjects/schedules/follow-up. 3. Performs basic/scripted assessments to confirm eligibility to participate in study; explains and schedules laboratory and diagnostic procedures and/or treatment as required in the study; refers participants to basic resources as necessary. 4. Collects data from study participants, medical records, interviews, questionnaires, diagnostic tests and other sources; performs basic evaluation and interpretation of collected data and prepares appropriate reports and documentation as necessary; prepares and distributes study packets and information. 5. Assists in maintaining regulatory documentation and binders. 6. Assists in reviewing case report forms for completeness and compliance with protocol and appropriated regulations. Assists in investigating incomplete, inaccurate or missing documents to ensure accuracy and completeness of data. 7. Attends routine meetings and other meetings related to the clinical research; stays abreast of information and any changes to the protocol. 8. Assists with other duties as assigned by research team. 9. Back-up other research assistants with collecting heart tissue from the OR and/or Cardiac Catheterization Lab: requires on-call hours carrying a pager and after-hours work. Required Qualifications High school diploma plus two years of administrative or research experience, preferably in a medical environment; associate degree or two years of college may substitute for experience. Preferred Qualifications * Blood processing and tissue procurement. * Basic medical knowledge and terminology. * Statistical skills. * Knowledge and use of Excel highly preferred. * Strong attention to detail. * Organizational and interpersonal sills. Salary Range The hiring range for this position is $17.58 - $21.98 per hour.
