Job Type/Schedule This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. Department Name/Job Location This position is in the Department of Pediatric Neurology. This position is for the Medical School Campus. Essential Functions POSITION SUMMARY: A responsible individual who works closely with multiple Principal Investigators (PIs) within the Pediatric Neurology Division to serve as a research coordinator for various clinical research studies and to ensure that Washington University is compliant in patient safety and enrollment goals. Position performs duties associated with the coordination and implementation of research study/projects, participant recruitment, data collection, and the management of study-generated data. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Works under the principal investigator’s (PI) guidance to meet the research objectives of the project, communicating questions, concerns and observations to the PI and other study personnel. Maintains the necessary training to properly conduct the studies. 2. Provides direct patient care, including informed consent, assessments, scheduling, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patients; documents, collects data and specimens, and assists physicians; obtains outside medical records; schedules study appointments and procedures, keeps track of follow-up schedules; ensures patient rights and safety are protected; works to identify, screen, and enroll study subjects; ensures that specimens and data are obtained and handled according to established protocol and safety regulations. 3. Collects basic health information and medical data as required by protocol and completes study-related data entry and data verification; maintains study binders and records; maintains appropriate storage of study materials (patient records and supplies); prepares/submits event reports in adherence with study procedures, budget, and established guidelines internally and to the outside sponsoring organizations. 4. Administrative work related to general study management. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; prior work experience, preferably in clinical research support, is highly preferred; a combination of relevant work and education equaling four years may substitute for this requirement. Preferred Qualifications * Neuroloscience, regulatory compliance, or customer service experience helpful. * Certificate of research management and CITI training or prior experience as a clinical research coordinator preferred. * Project management experience is highly desirable. * Superior attention to detail and excellent organizational and time-management skills are a must. * Ability to prioritize and work independently. * Working knowledge of techniques and methodologies used in developing, coordinating, and managing clinical research projects with working knowledge of database and spreadsheet management. * Solid competency in computer programs and systems along with excellent communication, telephone, and interpersonal skills. * Ability to handle protected health information. Salary Range The hiring range for this position is $43,326 - $54,204 annually.
