Job Type/Schedule

This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. The expected daily work schedule is 12:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Essential Functions

POSITION SUMMARY:

Position plans and manages administrative aspects of the Sleep Medicine Center and Sleep Lab operations, including strategic planning and overall development. Works in conjunction with Section Head and Technical Supervisor to manage the clinical aspects of the Sleep laboratory and Sleep section support.

Demonstrates a high commitment to excellence in service and quality through interactions with Neurology faculty and staff, referring physicians, patients and their families and alignment with the Department of Neurology’s Mission and Vision. Works to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Leads, develops and supports the technical supervisor; manages the Sleep Lab team and the Sleep section support to ensure safe and quality patient care is provided in an efficient and cost effective manner. Accountable for the coordination of patient services with physicians, promotes and maintains good public relations with section teams, providers, provider teams, patients and their families. Provides supervisor direction and assistance in resolving issues and complaints by physicians, patients and referring physician offices.
  2. Manages sleep lab staff, with 14 technical staff, and section support staff, with 3 nursing support staff, as direct reports; addresses and resolves personnel issues, maintains job descriptions, conducts annual performance evaluations, coordinates and ensures completion of staff continuing education/quality improvement/skills training, and maintains clinical and staff policies and procedures in compliance with medical school, state and federal regulatory requirements on an annual basis. Interviews and hires applicants for positions, supervises training of new employees, and makes salary recommendations.
  3. Works with the section head and clinic administrator on setting priorities and developing the strategic plan and marketing to grow the Sleep Lab. Implements and monitors the developmental action plan. Assures the compliance of the sleep facility with outside regulatory agencies.
  4. Manages resources, including facilities, equipment and budgets, to meet the Department goals and objectives. Ensures coordination and maintenance of equipment and supplies. Keeps supplies within set par levels. Notifies medical director of any facility related issues including the need for equipment repair or purchase.
  5. Provide reports, analysis and maintains records as required.
  6. Maintains communication with sleep lab staff, support section remote workers and faculty through regular meetings.
  7. Tracks renewal of medical and prescribing licenses and credentialing of providers. Ensures support staff maintain credentials required for position (RN, RMA, RPSGT, BLS/CPR, etc.) and complete all mandatory training.
  8. Researches and recommends new methods and procedures to improve current clinical support service capabilities, quality, and standards. Identifies inefficient workflows, develops and proposes solutions to increase efficiency and effectiveness; manages and participates in clinical support quality assurance/improvement programs; fields and formally addresses customer complaints and develops solutions to reported problems.
  9. Achieves and maintains expertise in management areas through participation in continuing education programs, professional organizations and self-study.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and five to seven years’ clinic office experience, including three to five years of supervisory experience in an academic health center, hospital, or healthcare industry setting required. An equivalent of eight years’ combination of education and experience may substituted.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of eight years related clinic office experience.
  • Exceptional internal, external and customer service skills.
  • Working knowledge of patient services.
  • Good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A thorough understanding of what medical records, phone triage, front desk and insurance verification/pre-cert positions entail is strongly preferred.

Salary Range

The hiring range for this position is $62,067 - $79,144 annually.
