Job Type/Schedule This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. Department Name/Job Location This position is in the Department of Emergency Medicine. This position is for the Medical School Campus. Essential Functions POSITION SUMMARY: This position provides technical and analytical work in reporting and development and configuration of Emergency Medicine information reporting and research resources. The employee develops, designs, configures and supports reporting solutions for the business, research, and/or instructional functions of clients on multiple platforms, including Epic reporting tools, direct SQL, and Excel. Data sources for reporting include the Epic EMR reporting databases and reporting tools (Clarity, Caboodle, Webi, and Reporting Workbench), the legacy EMR (HMED) database, various departmentally held datasets. Solutions often require merging between datasets. Efforts are collaborative, linking technical knowledge with business, research, and instructional knowledge. Duties include client-needs assessment as well as evaluating appropriateness of available platforms. Employee should be able to work independently with supervision as needed. It is expected that the employee will undergo further training to learn to design, configure, and manage clinical trial alerts in the Epic EMR system, collaborating with the Director of Research and the Director of Informatics as well as the Epic1 team. The employee will also, in time, undergo training to configure REDCap data capture instruments and build Power BI reports. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Develops projects of low to moderate size and complexity. 2. Works with clients to determine needs and specifications for proposed reporting. 3. Determines appropriate tools and data sources, including the merging of data sources when needed. 4. Consults with others on the team as necessary to develop the best design possible. 5. Explores and tests reporting results as appropriate to assure accuracy of the query design. 6. Works with end-users in an iterative approach to assure the need is met. 7. Coordinates work with more technical team members when ETL’s or more technical programming resources are needed. 8. Consults with the Director of Research or the Director of Informatics when assistance is needed with deeper domain knowledge. 9. Works closely with the Director of Operations on the top-level business needs of the department. 10. Manages the department’s information services request portal to assure that requests are addressed in a timely manner and that tracking of requests is kept current. 11. Develops, configures, and maintains the department’s system of clinical trial alerts in the Epic EMR system using the Epic Best Practice Alert framework. Alerts are designed in close coordination with the Director of Research and the Director of Informatics. 12. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent high school certification. * Two years of programming experience. * Degree or certification in computer programming from a technical school or college may substitute for the required experience. Preferred Qualifications * Planning and Organizing: Ability to organize and follow moderately complex and/or detailed technical procedures; ability to work independently and performs job with supervision as needed. * Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel setting priorities while coordinating with others as needed. * Technical Knowledge: Competent to work within and/or train on all of the platforms noted above. Achieve and maintain Epic certifications in the Clarity and Caboodle data models, the ASAP Epic application, and Best Practice Alert building. * Technical Support: Knowledge of functional features of the various reporting tools in order to advise and support clients. * Consultancy Skills: Ability to consult with clients, technical experts, the Epic1 team, and the departmental Directors of Operations, Research, and Informatics to resolve technical and domain questions and issues. Salary Range The hiring range for this position is $56,472 - $73,403 annually.
