Monitors and coordinates patient care activities with inpatient areas and other ancillary departments to optimize patient care and comfort. Functions within the scope of nursing preparation and consistent with the established guidelines of nursing practice, the goals of St. John's Health System, the Philosophy of the Sisters of Company , the Missouri Nurse Practice Act, the Code of Professional and Business Ethics and the Employee Code of Conduct. Performs related duties as assigned.Qualifications: * Education: Graduate of a state approved School of Nursing. * Licensure: Current RN licensure with Missouri State Board of Nursing or current RN Missouri temporary work permit. * Experience: Minimum of one year medical surgical, ER, or critical care experience. * Certifications: Must have American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete a course within probation period. ACLS and PALS required for FT and PT radiology nurses that are involved in patient sedation procedures. * Other: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Good organizational, communication and leadership skills preferred. Knowledge of common psychiatric disorders and symptoms. Knowledge of group/individual/dynamics and crisis management skills. Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements: Stand, walk, and sit most of the time on duty. Meet unit specific physical demands. May be required to work differing schedules, shifts, days of the week, or work frequency according to patient care requirements. Equipment Used: Office equipment; copier, fax, phone, computer, Pyxis automated medication administration. Patient care equipment; patient lift, IV pumps, NG pumps, blood glucose machine, pulse oximeter, mini-infusers, electric beds, restraints, wheelchair, gerichair. * Preferred Experience: Prefer ER or critical care experience and background. * Preferred Other: Good IV skills beneficial.
