JMS Senior Living Certified Medication Technician in Saint Peters, Missouri

DescriptionPosition Summary:iProvides resident care, medication administration and medication system maintenance as directed by the Charge Nurse, and in accordance with the standards, policies and practices of the department.Essential FunctionsWorks under the supervision of the Charge Nurse.Assists medical team in fulfilling Care Plan directives and physician orders to ensure quality care and treatments to residents.Prepares and administers medication in accordance with physician orders and company policies and procedures.Documents resident medication administration and reports any medications not given.Monitors residents for adverse reactions to medications or other changes in condition and reports any concerns to the Charge Nurse or DON.Communicates pharmacy needs or concerns to the Charge Nurse.Ensures cleanliness and organization of the medication carts.Complies with federal, state, local and company health, safety, and sanitation laws, regulations and standards, including Standard Precautions and Infection Control.Protects the confidential nature of resident information and adheres to resident rights.Assists residents at mealtimes with delivering food, feeding and transporting residents to dining areas.Assists family members, caregivers, physicians, and others as needed.Assists in emergency situations.Reports any needed equipment or physical plant repairs to Charge Nurse.Reports any supply or inventory needs to Charge Nurse.Attends all required training and meetings.Attends all required in-services as directed by the Administrator. ? Participates in new employee orientation and training and assists with on-the-job training as directed by the Charge Nurse.Follows all company policies and procedures.Complies with the companyis employee safety prevention and accident reporting program.Participates in and assists residents during fire drills and other safety drills.Timely response and follow through on all communications.Cooperates and problem-solves with other departments and staff, residents, vendors, and others to support overall team and corporate goals.Works extra hours when necessary and performs duties of other positions as needed.This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee. Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.NOTE:iReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.RequirementsQualificationsiActive status on Missouri State Certified Medication Technician (CMT) Registry and Missouri CNA registry.Understands ethical and legal responsibilities in administering medications.Minimum of 1 year working in a healthcare facility offering skilled care, rehabilitation services, assisted living and/or residential care.Dedicated interest in assisting a senior population.Experience in understanding and assisting with individualized care plans.Reads, writes, speaks, and understands the English language.Able and willing to take direction from management.Effective communication skills.Patience and acceptance of constant change in own work environment.Self-directed organizational skills that enhance the ability to manage numerous priorities.Basic computer skills.Proven success in participating within a team structure.History of ethical conduct.Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.iPreferred Education or ExperienceInsulin administration certified.iPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
