Laboratory ScientistiDevelop, validate and perform a broad range of chemical and biochemical assays and procedures with limited supervision from line leader. Perform analyses to support innovation projects with the analysis of physiological samples and finished product.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Develop and perform chemical and biological assays as required to support the analytical needs of Nestle Purina Product Technology Center2. Submit validation files to Nestle Research Center-Quality for the development of Laboratory Instructions3. Develop new analytical methodologies to support quality, behavioral and nutritional initiatives4. Perform validation studies of new and existing analytical methodologies5. Evaluate new technologies and methods for potential use at Nestle Purina PTC6. Participate as a project team member as assigned. Required activities include, but are not limited to:i i i i Provide effective project leadership for the projects assignedi i i i Assist in interpreting datai i i iComplete all required documentation and project reporting in a timely manneri i i iEnsure all appropriate documents and project records are filed in the Central Project Files, whether paper or electronici i i iLead small RandD projects, where applicable7. Effectively communicate results through oral presentations, written technical documentation and RandD reports8. Conduct all activities in compliance with the Nestle Good Laboratory Practices (nGLP) and all required Company policies and procedures9. Develop, review and maintain SOPs, ICPs Technical Instructions related analytical procedures10. Maintain accurate records/log of analytical requests and data11. Prepare samples for shipping to external laboratories12. Maintain laboratory equipment in working order and a safe, clean and sanitary work environment13. Train and mentor others in the laboratory14. Communicate and Support appropriately with other Applied Science Groups within RandD, Regional Laboratories and Operating Companiesi15. Travel as neededADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Expand knowledge in scientific field (conferences, seminars, etc.)2. Participate in Laboratory audits3. Establish and maintain good relationships with vendors and counterparts at other Nestle operations by encouraging frequent informal communication4. Additional duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS:1. Master of Science or PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or related discipline2. 2 or more years of experience in the use of research techniques, experimental design and statistical analysis3. Current hands-on experience with LC/MS, FT-IR, gas and liquid chromatography, mineral analysis, proximate analyses, wet chemistry and lipid analysis4. Must be able to effectively communicate results through oral presentations and timely, written technical documentation and reports5. Good interpersonal skills6. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments/priorities utilizing organizational and project management skills7. Computer literacy8. Pro-Active/Self-StarterSPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:1.
