Responsible for the safe administration of Respiratory Care Services and procedures as ordered by physicians
Maintains and cleans equipment used within the department
Maintains quality control documentation on all pulmonary laboratory equipment
Revises and maintains all pulmonary function laboratory policies and procedures when necessary
Participates in inservice activities to further staff development
Makes clinical decisions whenever necessary
Takes an active role in Quality Improvement within the department
Exhibits competency in performing all of the procedures currently performed by the Respiratory Therapy Department in accordance with policies and procedures as outlined by the policy and procedure manuals
Must be able to consult with other hospital personnel and physicians appropriately
Proper communication with other Respiratory Care staff is essential
Is capable of performing appropriately with all of the following patient classifications: neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric
Duties require interaction with different patient age groups, i.e., neonate, child, adolescents, adults, and the elderly, and requires recognition that different age groups require specialized attention or care
Performs cardiac stress testing, holter monitor set up and analysis, scanning, cardiac pulmonary function testing and EKG testing
Performs other duties as assigned
Become
Must be a graduate of an AMA accredited Respiratory Care Program
Registration by the NBRC is preferred for all, but mandatory for all that received credential on or after July 1, 2002
Membership in the AARC is preferred
CPR certification is mandatory
MO State License is required as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
Missouri licensing requirements must be met
Must be able to read, write and speak English
