Day ShiftResponsible for leadership and direction in patient services of the Clinical Laboratory, including Phlebotomy, Outreach, and Outpatient Lab Services.

  • Develops positive working relationships and maintains/grow accounts for outpatient medical laboratory services throughout the community

  • Effectively plans and develops departmental goals based on Mission and customer needs, completing management related work projects on a timely basis so that objectives are met in integrated accordance with organizational needs

  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory standards in areas of responsibility

  • Creates labor and supply budget for areas of responsibility

  • Improves employee satisfaction as determined by improved turnover rates and PRC employee engagement scores in areas of responsibility

  • Implements administrative decisions in accordance with hospital policy

  • Maintains working relationships with related hospital departments, the medical staff, and departmental staff

  • Attends required organizational committee meetings

  • Facilitates routine departmental meetings, and schedules in-service educational meetings as required to areas of responsibility and clients

  • Other duties include hiring, training and orientation, evaluating competency, continuing education, counseling, and disciplining staff, providing a safe work environment and process improvement in order to meet patient workflows and patient satisfaction needs

  • Delegates responsibility and authority effectively as a resource to department staff, establishing expectations and processes to measure, assess, and improve services

Outreach Service Manager/Coordinator Job Requirements:

  • Oversees coordination of courier pickup on different routes at times that meet the needs of clients

  • Education of clients on requirements for Medicare and insurance billing, and coordination of OOCP training sessions

  • Keeps Outreach staff current on billing requirements, including the needs of Patient Registration, Business Office, and Information Systems

  • Maintains outreach manuals, policies, and procedures

  • Monitors service schedules for Outreach Lab vehicles, scheduling repairs when needed

Phlebotomy Services Manager/Coordinator Job Requirements:

  • Be a representative for the phlebotomy staff, a liaison between the phlebotomists, other lab employees, and other hospital employees

  • Maintains and updates phlebotomy manuals, policies, and procedures

  • Conducts routine meetings with the phlebotomy staff from all shifts

  • Upholds CAP requirements and documentation requirements, including quarterly QProbe reporting

Lab Safety Officer Job Requirements:

  • Oversees laboratory compliance with safety regulations set forth by CAP and OSHA, establishing safety guidelines and policies to make the lab accreditation ready

  • Maintains the laboratory safety manuals in a current and updated version, including Chemical Hygiene Plan, Lab Safety Manual, Ergonomics, Packaging and Shipping, Safety Logs and Records, and DOT Security Awareness

  • Conducts initial hire and annual safety education to laboratory employees

  • Assists in the purchase of new safety equipment, implementing Ergonomic programs to meet CAP guidelines

  • Monitors and/or conducts fire drills as necessary to meet CAP guidelines

  • Maintains MSDS sheets and monitors current chemical inventory for the laboratory

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Must have a B.S. degree in Medical Technology (minimum); advanced degree such as MBA or MS preferred

  • Should have a minimum of 5 years laboratory experience, including supervisory experience

  • Should maintain current registration with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
