Merck Associate Director, US Biomarker Lab Segment Strategy in Columbia, Missouri

Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Marketing Associate Director, Precision Medicine Lab Segment Strategy within US Oncology Marketing.

The Marketing Associate Director will be responsible for development and implementation of both the strategic and tactical marketing programs for biomarkers and diagnostics in the laboratory customer segment for the oncology portfolio in the US market. The successful candidate will also serve as the lead for Precision Medicine for the Microsatellite Instability - High (MSI-H), Gastrointestinal (GI), Prostate, Tumor mutational burden-high (TMB-H), Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) tumor specific brand tumor franchises.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead development of overall lab segment strategy and execution tactical plans for National Commercial Labs, Regional Reference, Academic, and Community labs in US market across the oncology portfolio

  • Lead on Microsatellite Instability - High (MSI-H), Gastrointestinal (GI), Prostate, Tumor mutational burden-high (TMB-H), Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) tumor specific brand teams providing insights and diagnostic strategic initiatives to aid the tumor brand team promotional plans

  • Lead Lab segment launch readiness planning for new biomarker-guided indications, including but not limited to launch playbook, launch promotional resources, and launch progress reports

  • Provide strategic direction of Oncology Diagnostic Specialist (ODS) Key Account Specialists in lab segment and in collaboration with Oncology Diagnostic Specialist leadership, define, measure and report key performance indicators in the lab customer segment

  • Develop Lab customer engagement plan, attending and leading lab customer segment face to face meetings to drive execution of the strategic plan and partnership programs

  • Serve as point for access and reimbursement for diagnostic testing and coordinate initiatives with Access team to ensure access for companion diagnostic testing for oncology portfolio

  • Serve as Precision Medicine point with diagnostic partners

  • Address lab customer issues relating to test result reporting and alignment with label indication

  • Monitor market and competitive intelligence activities within the lab segment

Education Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelo's degree (BS/BA)

  • Master's degree (MBA) preferred

Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience (pharmaceutical and/or diagnostic) is required, including at least 2 years of pharmaceutical.

  • Minimum of 3 years of marketing experience

  • The position will require a solid understanding of the role of biomarkers & diagnostics in personalized medicine as well as established connections and relationships in the diagnostic and laboratory space.

  • Strong leadership skills and ability to collaborate across the organization

  • Proven ability to work with many areas of marketing management including strategy development, engagement programs, market research, segmentation, competitive dynamics, and issues management in a highly complex and dynamic environment

  • Strong business acumen and a demonstrated ability to understand and manage key levers that drive growth and profitability.

  • Significant & demonstrated commercial leadership in marketplace assessment, development of product strategy, short- & long-range business planning, market access & reimbursement

  • Strong leadership, problem solving, teamwork, analytical, written/verbal communication, and presentation skills

  • Collaboration with business partners, influencing without authority and working successfully with cross-functional teams

  • 35% Travel, including some weekend

Preferred:
