Night ShiftThis position requires a positive "how can I help" attitude toward all departmental staff, physicians and others with whom interaction occursBegin

  • Answer call light “phone” and relay messages to staff within two rings, addressing the patient by name, identifying self and asking the patient “How may I help you?”

  • Accountable for completion and accuracy of patient assignments and phone assignments in the Responder 5 program at the beginning of each shift

  • Accountable for updating and assuring accuracy of Responder 5 assignments throughout the shift as needed

  • Set the tone on the unit with positive attitude and extraordinary communication with patients, families, and staff

  • Greets and welcomes every patient and visitor to the unit

  • Work as a team to deliver exceptional care to our patients and our families

  • Requisition supplies: dietary/floor stock/office supplies

  • Page physicians and staff and arrange physician consults as ordered.

  • Schedule patient follow up appointments and make post-discharge phone calls and participate in efforts to reduce readmissions

  • Provide patient list for leadership rounding

  • Provide first class customer service

  • Answer the telephone

  • Transcribe orders

  • Communication skills and excellent telephone etiquette

  • Entering data in the computer and the patient’s medical record

  • Filing patient documents in the yellow folders send documents for scanning to HIM

  • Fax daily staffing assignment list to Centralized Telemetry Monitor at start of shift and provide updates throughout the shift as needed

  • Assists with orientation of new employees

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Provide patient list for “Mended Hearts” program representative as requested


  • High school graduate or equivalent, formal or on the job training

  • Medical terminology experience preferred

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
