Night ShiftThe registered professional nurse coordinates, plans, directs and implements the nursing process in the delivery of patient careBegin

Post Partum:

  • Head to toe assessment skills with knowledge and proficiency in pregnancy related assessment

  • Initiation and maintenance of Magnesium Sulfate

  • Post-op care of OB and GYN procedures

  • Patient education related to PP issues

  • Care of the stable Antepartum patient

  • Admission of surgical patients

  • Assist with physician rounding

  • Ability to care for Share patients in empathetic and sensitive manner

  • Excellent communication skills with report to patients, co-workers and physicians

  • Ability to assist co-workers during Obstetrical emergency

  • Team oriented

  • Flexible and accommodating to the varying needs of the unit

  • Will be expected to successfully pass NRP at first available class offered after start date

Labor and Delivery:

  • Accurate Sterile Vaginal Exam

  • Proficient at fetal heart monitoring and interventions related to

  • Circulate and recover obstetrical procedures

  • Accurately perform antenatal testing

  • Initiate and maintain Magnesium Sulfate therapy

  • Patient education related to pregnancy, L&D, treatments, surgery, etc.

  • Proficient at IFSE application and IUPC insertion

  • Ability to care for Share patients in empathetic and sensitive manner

  • Accurate triaging and assessment skills

  • Excellent communication skills with report to patients, co-workers and physicians

  • Ability to function effectively and safely in an Obstetrical emergency

  • Team oriented

  • Flexible and accommodating to the varying needs of the unit

  • Will be expected to successfully pass NRP at first available class offered after start date

  • Will be expected to successfully pass ACLS within 90 days of hire

Well Baby:

  • Newborn assessments

  • Patient teaching to parents/guardians related to newborn care

  • Obtain newborn state screens

  • Assist with physician rounding

  • Assist with circumcisions

  • Identify newborns with potential needs for NICU admission

  • Assist parents with feeding and bonding

  • Team oriented

  • Flexible and accommodating to the varying needs of the unit

  • Will be expected to successfully pass NRP at first available class offered after start date

Float:

  • Stabilize newborn at delivery

  • Lead neonatal resuscitation

  • Initial newborn assessment

  • Gestational age assessment

  • Facilitate paternal bonding and initial feeding

  • Newborn bath with parent demo as needed

  • Identify newborns with potential needs for NICU admission

  • Maintain all equipment necessary for delivery

Nicu:

  • Critically ill neonatal assessments

  • Critical thinking skills r/t the whole clinical picture and ability to communicate changes and/or concerns

  • IV therapy including, but not limited to peripheral and umbilical lines

  • Oxygen management including but not limited to nasal cannula, CPAP, and ventilators

  • Feeding management including but not limited to TPN, lipids, OG/NG, breast and bottle

  • Encourage and facilitate parental bonding with a critically ill newborn

  • Family education r/t treatments, interventions, and neonatal care

  • Discharge planning for a previous critically ill newborn

Certified Lactation Consultant:

  • Make rounds on patients daily, regardless of feeding preference

  • Patient education related to feeding options, cues, techniques, etc.

  • Staff and physician resource for feeding issues

  • Staff educator related to feeding options

  • Hospital resource for re-admissions that are breastfeeding

  • Coordinate call-backs to patients regarding hospital stay and feeding

IBCLC:

  • Make rounds on patient’s daily, regardless of feeding preference

  • Patient education related to feeding options, cues, techniques, etc.

  • Take call, which includes carrying the designated lactation phone and being available 24/7 for calls from patients regarding feeding issues

  • Coordinate CLC’s to ensure consistent education is provided

  • Staff and physician resource for feeding issues

  • Staff educator related to feeding options

  • Coordinate breast pump utilization throughout hospital

  • Coordinate breast pump loaner program

  • Hospital resource for re-admissions that are breastfeeding

  • Community liaison for hospital related to breastfeeding

  • Coordinate call-backs to patients regarding hospital stay and feeding

Become

  • Graduation from a professional nursing program

  • Registered professional nurse licensed by the state of Missouri and current CPR certification

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
