Description

Day ShiftThe registered professional nurse coordinates, plans, directs and implements the nursing process in the delivery of patient careBegin

  • Observes, documents, and reports patients physical, mental, and emotional status to physician, anesthesia, or other staff as appropriate; monitors and records vital signs and reports abnormals to physician

  • Administers medications and nursing interventions as ordered

  • Prepares equipment and supplies for physician during examinations, treatments, dressing changes, etc

  • Assures that all necessary documents, lab test results, x-rays, etc. are on patient charts prior to and after surgery

  • Plans for discharge from outpatient recovery

  • Teaches and communicates with families, physicians, physician offices, other health care agencies or departments in the hospital to insure continuum of care

  • Duties require interaction with different patient age groups, i.e., neonate, child, adolescents, adults, and the elderly, and requires recognition that different age groups require specialized attention or care

  • Taking call on a rotating basis

  • Hourly rounding to promote patient satisfaction

  • Must routinely be visible and engaged in the day to day functioning of the department

  • Support nursing students in the area

  • Support the strategic plan for nursing and the organization

  • Passion for quality, patient safety and satisfaction

  • Patient advocate

  • Work closely with CRNA/Anesthesiologist to provide care for patient prior to OR and after OR to discharge from unit whether patient is inpatient or outpatient

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Become

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing

  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Missouri

  • BCLS, ACLS, PALS. Previous ICU/Medical Surgical experience helpful

  • Communication and an attitude of responsiveness is absolutely key to all positions in the per-operative area
