Description
Day ShiftThe Inpatient Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is a technically educated, licensed, health care provider who carries out Physical Therapy patient care programs or portions thereof as planned and directed by a licensed Physical TherapistBegin
Perform routine gait instruction observing proper weight bearing precautions and sequencing with patients
Instruct patients in and perform therapeutic exercises with patients in accordance with established protocols or as directed by the physical therapist
Perform functional activities such as transfers and bed mobility training (physical lifting is required at times)
Administer physical modalities as delegated by the PT including hot packs, cold packs, ultrasound, whirlpool, electrical stimulation, massage
Monitor patients’ vital signs including pulse oxygenation, heart rate and blood pressure and modify treatment as indicated
Perform follow-up goniometry, functional muscle strength testing, balance testing, endurance and level of independence in functional tasks
Maintain clear and concise daily patient progress notes and documentation
Provide patient teaching and documents
Be familiar with infection control policies and procedures and carry them out correctly
Perform other duties as assigned.
Become
Graduate of a university Physical Therapist Assistant Associate degree program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education
Current licensure in the State of Missouri as a Physical Therapist Assistant
Current BCLS certification
Must be able to read, write and speak English
