Day ShiftThe Specialist III position is responsible for providing substantial in-dept service activites on a broad range of diagnostic imaging equipment, including ultrasound, nuclear medicine, cardiac cath, CT, MRI, other radiographic, and radiation therapy devices. Activities shall include repair services, preventative maintenance, quality assurance, and safety testing, along with necessary record keeping and supporting activities.   • Works closely with management and technical staff

  • Works with sales and service representatives of Imaging equipment

  • Provide timely and highly complex corrective maintenance on a broad range of assigned diagnostic imaging and biomedical equipment in accordance with current procedures established by Biomedical Services and Radiology, Cardiology, and Radiation Oncology

  • Provide preventative maintenance activities for highly complex diagnostic imaging equipment in accordance with established schedules

  • Services Imaging equipment which may include any of the following modalities: Conventional X-Ray, R & F, Tomography, Mammography, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, IR Labs, Nuclear Medicine, or Linear Accellerators

  • Performs assigned planned maintenance, installation, repairs, adjustments, calibrations and safety testing on a broad range of Imaging equipment

  • Performs incoming inspections, equipment quality control, testing, calibration and image evaluation of equipment according to manufacturer specifications and other established guidelines

  • Services networked equipment and troubleshoots problems

  • Provides strong verbal/written communications consistent with assigned tasks.

  • Works closely with Department Heads, Directors, and Supervisors as to the status of equipment under repair

  • Performs inspections, quality control and image evaluations

  • Makes decisions based on clear instructions and operational rules and procedures

  • Shows initiative, follows established procedures, and works in a safe manner

  • Adheres to performance metrics of PM completion, work request closure, parts returns and others as assigned

  • Maintains timely, accurate and thorough documentation required by management, as outlined in current policies and procedures

  • Demonstrates initiative and concern for planning, time utilization and cost containment

  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of the Equipment Management System

  • Advanced knowledge of networked equipment

  • Well developed computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Certified on specific equipment

  • Maintains Imaging Specialist expertise through ongoing training and education

  • Has and advanced understanding of both local and national public safety and regulatory issues

  • Able to solve complicated frontline customer service issues

  • Well developed oral and written communication skills

  • Well developed organizational skills

  • Well developed analytical skills

  • The Specialists III is responsible for recommending and initiating improvements to preventative maintenance routines to reduce random equipment failure rates

  • Provide through the Biomedical Services department policy, the coordination and required assistance to service personnel employed by equipment manufacturers (OEM) and independent service organizations (ISO)

  • The Specialists III is also responsible for monitoring the quality of service work provided by these individuals and for providing necessary feedback pertaining to the adequacy of services provided to Director of Biomedical Services

  • Perform various quality assurance and safety testing duties on all type of Radiology, Cardiology, Radiation Oncology and general biomedical equipment as assigned

  • Provide assistance during various acceptance tests, performance tests and regulatory compliance tests, which may be conducted as part of the Capital Asset Management program

  • Participate in the equipment procurement process by providing technical requirements which address on-going service issues, including training, documentation, test equipment, diagnostic software, safety of operation, and spare parts

  • As assigned, the Specialists III will provide assistance and coordination during equipment installation and acceptance testing

  • Provide continuous instruction and training to medical and technical staff to insure the safe operation of assigned equipment

  • Communicate with manufacturers to verify the existence of any required safety modifications or warning labels and provide follow-up to verity their installation

  • Fulfill all the above responsibilities for other assigned highly complex biomedical equipment and be available for assignment of necessary overtime and on-call duties

  • Provide frequent on-the-job training of specified biomedical technicians assigned when performing service to Radiology, Cardiology and Radiation Oncology equipment

  • Demonstrates competency related to the use of Service and Repair Manuals, Operating Instructions, Service Diagrams, Flow Charts, and Schematics

  • Maintains an orderly and functional work environment

  • Capable of Projects Management

  • Performs after hours and On-Call support as assigned

  • Duties may require interaction with different age groups of patients, visitors, and employees, and requires recognition that different age groups require specialized attention or care.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Become

  • Has significant amount of education or training or equivalent experience and has training courses in diagnostic x-ray equipment provided by various x-ray manufacturers or a minimum of x-ray Phase I, II, III, and IV offered by RSTI or equivalent

  • Associates degree in Electronic Technology or Engineering preferred, in lieu of 10 years experience

  • Though not required, to have successfully passed the national certification examination for Radiological Equipment Specialist, which is available through the International Certification Commission. (CRES Certification) However, eventual goal should be certification

  • Is considered a paraprofessional and should be competent in doing the actual maintenance and repairs on most hospital instrumentation

  • Must has some background or training in physiology, anatomy, chemistry and biology to converse with physicians, nurses and technicians as well as reading and understanding the operation and repair manuals of devices

  • Must be active in pursuing technical knowledge of devices and their use and operation, and a competent understanding of current safety guidelines and standards
