Description
Day ShiftThe Administrative Assistant shall be responsible for coordinating work flow of billing insurance and other assigned duties in the specific Clinic, on a daily basis, including patient schedulingBegin
Records daily and weekly patient billing
Assists in preparing and collecting physician charges for in-patient hospital and clinic patients
Prepares information for patient billing for commercial, governmental and private payments
Maintains patient/physician billing information
Obtains needed information from patients medical record for billing purposes
Job requires understanding of specific needs of customers and patients
Must understand EPM/EMR
Bill clinic/hospital procedures
Apply payments to accounts
Answer multiple phone lines
Schedule appointments, tests, referrals
Participates in the training of new employees if needed
Register patients – pre-cert insurance companies
Order office and medical supplies when necessary
Filing of medical records
Must have knowledge of insurance processing, ICD9-CPT knowledge/experience
Performs other duties as assigned
Become
Must possess good math and communication skills
Minimum of high school education or GED is required
Minimum of one year experience in a hospital business office or clinic practice is preferred
Some college level education is desirable, but is not required
Understanding of medical billing software is essential
Healthcare background is a plus
Must possess understanding of physician billing and ability to learn medical coding for billing purposes
Must be patient/customer service oriented
Must be able to read, write and speak English
